SCLC to offer ex-convicts a second chance

(WMC-TV) - Ex-convicts trying to get back into society will get some help from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

Sunday, the SCLC and Annesdale Cherokee Baptist Church announced a new program that will focus on giving former prisoners a second chance.

The SCLC hopes to partner with companies who will hire and teach former felons new work skills.

"They say that maybe four to six out of 10 will go back," said Rev. Dwight Montgomery with the SCLC.  "We need to change that.  We must change that.  We can certainly start in Memphis."

Montgomery's church will be posting a sign up sheet and meeting with potential candidates next Saturday.
