Crime Stoppers increases reward for dog fighting tips

(WMC-TV) – The alleged crime of a former Shelby County sheriff's deputy was the catalyst for a new initiative at Crime Stoppers.

Investigators confiscated 14 dogs from the Whitehaven home of former deputy Jemario Taylor in 2009.

Taylor denied charges that he used the dogs for fighting. He said they were show dogs for competition.

Police discovered the dogs chained together in the mud and many of them had bite marks on them.

It is one of many abuse cases pending, which prompted Crime Stoppers to increase the reward for tips about dog fighting.
