Feds want more details on Greg Davis' campaign funding

(WMC-TV) - Federal agents are asking for more of Southaven Mayor Greg Davis' spending records.

According to the Commercial Appeal, federal agents recently obtained copies of Davis' campaign finance reports filed with the city.

They said it comes after it was reported last month that the mayor had used those funds to buy a $30,000 car, undergo treatment at a stress clinic in Arizona, and pay $75,000 on his personal credit card.

Davis already owes about $170,000 to the state for misusing city funds.  A recent audit found that he still owes thousands more in debt on top of that.

That misuse is under investigation by both the State of Mississippi and the FBI.

Davis will be in a DeSoto County courtroom next week to answer to charges of unlawfully passing a school bus in his personal car with illegal blue lights.  He could be fined up to $500 for each of those misdemeanor charges.
