(WMC-TV) - A Dyersburg man is charged with taking his frustration out on his roommate's dog by killing it.
"He was very sweet," says Brittany Tabor of her four-year-old Chihuahua, Nitto. "He was my baby. He was like my child. I slept with him every day, every night. He was what I looked forward to coming home to. They said Nitto was dead on arrival."
Tabor's housemate Danny Steen is charged with felony aggravated cruelty to an animal.
Tabor was at work when she says she got word something was wrong with Nitto.
"His boyfriend called and said he had thrown the dog. He's not responding not moving and they're going to take it to the vet."
Tabor says Steen became angry and slammed Nitto on the floor after he urinated on the couch.
She says she never saw Steen act aggressively toward Nitto. She says she has been friends with Steen for years, but Tabor's mother, Michelle Davis said she felt something was wrong.
"We knew something was wrong. He was hiding under the bed. He was scared to death," she states.
Tabor and her mother showed WMC-TV the spot where Nitto is buried in the backyard of the family home.
"He was the sweetest thing ever," says Tabor.
Danny Steen is scheduled to be back in court in June. Dyersburg police say they want people to know there are consequences for harming animals.
