Search continues for suspected serial rapist

(WMC-TV) - Cordova residents are on alert as police are tracking a suspected serial rapist who has been attacking women for almost a decade.

Memphis police said the suspect could be responsible for at least six sexual assaults in the Cordova area.

He was spotted on surveillance cameras in Cordova using a stolen credit card from a woman he reportedly sexually assaulted.

Investigators believe the rapes date back to 2003.  They have DNA evidence that connects him to at least six attacks.

In one incident, a woman claimed she was sexually assaulted and robbed at knife point.

Residents in the Carrollwood Lakes subdivision in Cordova said they will be watching their streets.

"If you see anyone around that you don't recognize or who might look suspicious, pick up the phone and call someone," said Cordova resident Shatara Moore.

"If he wants to come around here, let him come," said Cordova resident Rick George.  "We have a couple of guys who'd like to meet him."

The suspected rapist is about 6 feet tall with brown hair and a medium complexion.
