1-year anniversary of Tunica casinos closing due to flooding

(WMC-TV) - It has been one year since all nine Tunica casinos shut down due to flooding.

As much as 7 and a half feet of water stood at the casinos' doors after the Mississippi River overflowed its banks following unprecedented flooding.

Before the flooding, Action News 5 got exclusive access inside the Horseshoe Casino as they prepared to close.  Armed guards brought from the slot machines outside, where snipers were waiting to keep it safe.

The Tunica casinos remained closed for nearly four weeks in May 2011.
