Sheriff's office hopes Facebook will help capture criminals

(WMC-TV) - Five mid-south women are charged with DUI-related crimes and have active warrants out for their arrest after they failed to appear on their court dates.

Now pictures of the women have been placed on the Shelby County Sheriff Office's Facebook page in hopes someone will recognize them and turn them in.

"Someone always knows someone and someone always sees someone," says Shelby County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer, Chip Washington.

Plastering the ladies faces on Facebook makes a tough job much easier for authorities.

Authorities often have a hard time locating suspects because they'll give addresses that aren't theirs. Authorities will knock on the door and it isn't their home.

Authorities say the very public Facebook shout outs are working.

"This obviously sends a message that no matter what, in particular drinking and driving we are going to find you," says Washington.
