(WAFF) - Police officers transformed into cowboys early Thursday morning when a cow got loose in Huntsville.
Someone spotted the bovine on Memorial Parkway near Alabama A&M University.
Officers tried to surround the cow, but it ran into a nearby neighborhood, forcing police to chase it from house to house.
Officers thought they had the cow fenced in several times, but it always broke loose. At one point the heifer clumsily jumped over a fence and damaged it.
Six Huntsville Police officers and two animal control officers responded.
The chase went on for about three hours when the bovine began to wander down some train tracks and into the woods.
Officers had nearly given up the chase, when the cow was spotted again. This time they managed to trap it in a pasture. That was around 4 a.m.
It's not clear who owns the cow.
