(WMC-TV) - Those who attended Thursday's Redbirds baseball game knew someone special was throwing the first pitch, but they were not prepared for what happened next.
The crowd at the game got some double-header action when an unexpected pitcher brought another diamond on the field.
Alli Williams thought she was on the sidelines to take a picture as her boyfriend, Navy Petty Officer Brian Belleza, threw the first pitch.
He threw the first strike, but had another pitch to make.
"I love you so much, Alli, will you marry me?" Belleza asked as the crowd cheered.
Without hesitation, she said 'Yes'.
Williams said the proposal came way out of left field.
Keeping his secret safe was tough.
"I've been having to hold this surprise now for about a month," he said.
Belleza, who is leaving for assignment soon, said he wanted to profess his love before saying goodbye.
"I knew it was time because I'm leaving for Afghanistan. I wanted her to know exactly how I feel prior to me going," he explained.
With a Memphis memorabilia baseball and a ring to remember the moment, the couple said their engagement was a home run.
"Anyone with us and anyone that knows us knows that we were meant to be together for the rest of our lives", added Belleza.
