(WMC-TV) – The Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival gets started Friday evening, kicking off a month-long celebration of the city.
The music festival will feature three nights, and two full days of great music. If you like the blues, jazz, gospel, rock, rap, or soul – Beale Street Music Festival will have it.
Organizers divided acts up between four stages in Tom Lee Park.
Before you try to get down to the river to celebrate, be sure to plan ahead.
Make sure to check the forecast. Most music festival fans already know to expect some mud. Even though this year's forecast only calls for a slight chance of rain, keep in mind, Mid-South weather is notoriously fickle. It cannot hurt to pack a rain poncho, just to be on the safe side.
With thousands of people heading to the same area, parking is bound to get a little bit tricky. The Memphis Commission compiled a list of all of the public parking lots and garages.
