(WMC-TV) - A Millington police officer resigned after a suspect accused him of sexual advances following a traffic stop.
The department confirms officer Larry Butler resigned for "personal reasons."
The resignation came the same day a woman he pulled over accused him of inappropriate behavior.
The incident report reveals that Officer Butler pulled over a 20-year-old female for a broken taillight on Highway 51.
When Butler stopped her, the report said the female tried to hide an unmarked pill bottle. Butler recovered the bottle and found half of a gram of marijuana inside.
The young woman was too distraught to speak with Action News 5's Kontji Anthony on camera, but she told her on the phone that Butler charged her for the traffic violations, and then offered to take her home.
She said he left and later came back, still in uniform. She let him inside her apartment and said he tried to "push up on" her.
Butler was not charged for using his authority in the matter. Instead, he resigned.
The woman is due in court on the charges she faces from the traffic stop.
