(WMC-TV) - The Memphis City Council will consider a red light district Tuesday.
The red light district proposal would put all current and future adult businesses in one designated area.
Councilman Shea Flinn is pitching the idea, calling it a "containment strategy."
According to the Commercial Appeal, the plan would create a committee to consider the feasibility of a red light district.
The committee would also decide where the district will be and establish a 9-member "Adult Entertainment Commission" to regulate adult businesses.
Last week, George Kuykendall with the Mid-South group "Citizens for Community Values" said he believes club owners will never move and he hopes taxpayer money will not go to a plan he said will fail.
Tuesday, a Memphis City Council committee will consider appointing that group to study a red light district.
