(WMC-TV) - For the first time, the parents of the Mid-South student killed by her college roommate talk about what they would tell the woman who is now convicted in the murder.
A video of Tina Stewart is now a precious memory of the murder victim's last Christmas with her family in Memphis.
Her family said the basketball standout was a jokester and the life of the family.
One week before Stewart was supposed to go home for spring break, she was stabbed to death by her roommate, Shanterrica Madden.
When asked what they would say to their daughter's killer, Ida Stewart Jackson, Tina's mother, responded, "Why did you do this to my child? Why didn't you try to get help for my child? Why didn't you dial 911?"
Family members say every day is struggle, but they say justice for Tina came when Madden was convicted of second degree murder.
"It was like a peace that came over my heart to know that she will finally be off the streets for that horrific thing she did to my child," said Tina's mother.
She also said that spending her Mother's Day without her daughter was difficult.
The family says Tina may be gone but her memory will live on in their hearts and her videos.
