Memphis-based company plans to hire 1,000 new employees

(WMC-TV) - As America struggles to climb out of the recession, one Memphis company is giving the country a jump start. Merry Maids is looking for 1,000 new employees across the country.

Because of their business model, this gives a critical boost to small business in America.

"It's exciting to be part of a business here in Memphis that's growing and expanding," said Merry Maids Chief Operations Officer Brent Armstrong.

While many companies across America are firing employees, Merry Maids is hiring.

"We're looking to hire approximately 1,000 people for our 500 locations across North America," said Armstrong.

Merry Maids, a division of ServiceMaster, crunched the numbers and recognized the need for growth.

"We've decided to embark upon our first ever national hiring event the 21st through the 25th," Armstrong explained.

The jobs will be filled between now and the end of the year.

From clerks to cleaning teams, up to 20 of the jobs are located in Memphis and other cities throughout Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

Armstrong laid out the job qualifications.

"People that are trusted, reliable, energetic, people that are bonded and insured."

People can apply online and regional managers will conduct phone interviews within 24 hours of your application.

Armstrong says the positive impact is far reaching because they impact company franchises.

"We have small business people across the U.S., both big and small, that care about their people and are truly excited about providing more jobs in their local community," said Armstrong.
