Memorial Day event guide

Memorial Day is on Monday.  It is a day reserved to honor our veterans and those killed in the line of duty.  Please plan to attend a Memorial Day event in your area to honor our fallen.


When: Monday, May 28, 10 a.m.

Where: Twin Oaks Funeral Home, Southaven, MS (290 Goodman Road)

What: The public is invited to honor our veterans with a ceremony that will feature bagpipes, the color guard, guest speakers, and more.


When: Saturday, May 26, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Where: Memphis National Cemetery, Memphis, TN (3568 Townes Avenue)

What: Scouts, leaders, and citizens will come together to pay tribute to the heroes of our military. More than 1,500 Boy and Girl Scouts will place more than 44,000 American flags on the gravesites of our veterans.


When: Sunday, May 27, 2 p.m.

Where: Memphis National Cemetery

What: A memorial service will feature music, guest speakers, presentation of special wreaths, gun salute, taps, and more.


When: Monday, May 28, 11 a.m.

Where: West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery (4000 S. Forest Hill Irene Road)

What: Numerous city, county, and state dignitaries will attend the memorial which will honor our veterans. The U.S. Navy Band will be there, along with guest speakers.

Additional notes: Due to expected traffic, visitors are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes early. Golf carts will be available to assist those unable to walk from the parking area to the program center.

Hardin County:

When: Events on Saturday and Sunday, May 26 – May 27, 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Actual memorial service: Monday, May 28, 11 a.m.

Where: Shiloh National Military Park, Shiloh, TN (1055 Pittsburg Lndg)

What: Costumed interpreters will act out experiences of soldiers in the wars. There will be a live firing of firearms used during each war. Guest veterans will reflect on their experiences and will remember those who have fallen.

Additional notes: Those attending the ceremony on Monday are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.


When: Monday, May 28, 10 a.m.

Where: Veterans Park, Bartlett, TN (Bartlett Blvd & Bartlett Road)

What: A memorial will feature the national anthem, prayer, guest speakers, a rifle salute, and more.
