Multiple Memphis shootings investigation

(WMC-TV) - It was a VIOLENT start to the weekend in Memphis, where two unrelated incidents sent a total of six shooting victims to the hospital.

Three people were shot at the Village Green apartments on Wild Rye Lane.  Just hours before that, three more people were shot on Horn Lake.

Around 10pm Friday night two teenage boys and a 20-year-old man were walking down the sidewalk on Horn Lake Road.  Police say a black 4-door Saturn passed and then made a u-turn firing off several rounds of ammunition hitting all three men. The 20-year-old was transported from the scene in critical condition.

Officers responded to a second shooting around 4am Saturday at the Village Green Apartments in Hickory Hill where three more victims had been shot.  This time 2 women, ages 23 and 26, and a 21-year-old man were all shot when bullets came flying through their apartment door.

Resident Devon Johnson said he heard the gunfire.

"It's crazy, it's crazy out here. People need to put those guns down and put these up (shows fists).  You don't have to shoot nobody man," stated Johnson

The two women are said to be in non-critical condition at The Med.  The man shot at the Village Green Apartments is in critical condition.

Investigators say the victims and the suspects at the apartments knew each other and the shooting could possibly be retaliation to an earlier altercation.

No suspects are in custody at this time in either of these shootings. Police say investigations are ongoing, and encourage anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH (2274).
