(WMC-TV) – An arrest was made in the hit-and-run accident that injured two women in Cooper-Young just over a week ago.
Adrienne Spates faces charges after speaking with police and giving her account of what happened the night of the crash.
She told police she did not know where the women came from and all of a sudden, they were in the street. After hitting one of them, she got out of the car and went over to help. She said when people started running toward her yelling, she got scared and left the scene.
Last week, the vehicle involved in the crash was located, but charges were not filed.
Now, Spates is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and failing to report a vehicle accident.
Last week, the woman seriously injured in the hit-and-run spoke with Action News 5 from the intensive care unit at The MED, where she is recovering from the accident.
Shannon Parker, who will turn 41 in July, suffered a fractured pelvis, an injury to her neck, and other organs. She said it could be months before she walks again.
