MEMPHIS, TN - (WMC-TV) – Tamika Jones is a wanted woman. She's been on the run since Memphis Police say she attacked her ex, Cedric Garrison, Thursday after he walked out of a store on Castalia Street. They say she actually set him on fire.
"Wow," said area resident Shundra Robinson.
She and others were shocked by the brutal nature of the alleged crime.
"She needs anger management," said Robinson.
Dean Wood could not imagine any of his three exes getting that mad at him.
"Just cause you get mad," said Wood. "Can't go around burning people up."
Police say Jones used gasoline in the attack, though its unclear what type of container. We're told she and Garrison have five children together and that at least one of them witnessed the attack.
According to a police report, the child told officers on the scene that his mother said she was going to jail. He told them she had been stressed about bills and very frustrated. Her son told police she said as soon as she saw Garrison she was going to set him on fire.
Garrison was initially said to be in non-critical condition after being set ablaze. However, he was downgraded due to the extent of his third degree burns.
Tamika Jones is wanted for both aggravated arson and attempted first degree murder. Witnesses say she was last seen in a gray Dodge Stratus. Call police if you know where she might be.
