Man, pregnant woman caught in crossfire

(WMC-TV) - A pregnant woman is recovering after she and a man were shot late Tuesday night at the Tulane Apartments in Memphis.

The shootings happened just before midnight Tuesday. Police say a man jumped the fence and began shooting at a black Dodge Charger. The car sped away and the shooter ran off.

Two people were caught in the crossfire.

The 22-year-old pregnant woman, Latoya Santifer, was taken to The MED after she was shot in the right hip. She is in non-critical condition.

24-year-old James Pollard was reportedly shot in the left leg and foot. He was taken to Methodist South by a private vehicle where they removed a bullet from his leg.

The shooting has neighbors like Tamika Brittany, who is also pregnant, on edge.

"Stuff happen like this all the time," she said. "The security need to be better over here. Real better. Because security doesn't do their job."

The suspect has not been arrested. At the time of the shootings, he was wearing a red hat and black t-shirt.

About 30 minutes later, Memphis police responded to a separate shooting call near the intersection of Riverside Boulevard and Hollowell Avenue.

One victim was taken to the MED in that shooting, but their condition is unknown. It was also unknown if a suspect has been arrested in that shooting.
