(WMC-TV) – A Mid-South narcotics deputy is no longer working as he is investigated in connection to a kidnapping and stabbing.

The domestic situation unfolded in two cities Wednesday morning.

Chad Lewis, a deputy with the Madison County Sheriff's Office, was arrested after investigators said he kidnapped and stabbed his ex-wife, Heather Sykes.

Lewis is accused of kidnapping is ex-wife from her home, and driving her to his home in Jackson. From there, investigators say he took her to the city's Coca-Cola Bottling Company where he stabbed her in the chest. Next, he allegedly took her to Henderson, Tennessee, where he threw the knife out of the truck and eventually took her to the hospital.

Sykes was airlifted to The MED and is currently stable in the intensive care unit.

Deputy Lewis was arrested and taken to the Madison County Jail.

He has been employed by Madison County since April 2005. He has been relieved of his duties with pay as the investigation into the alleged crime is conducted.

The Jackson Police Department is investigating the incidents.
