(WMC-TV) – No criminal charges will be filed against the officers involved in a shooting that killed a man who allegedly rammed two squad cars after fighting with police.
Officers approached Dewayne Bailey's Ford Taurus when the responded to a call that a man was slumped over the steering wheel in a Memphis supermarket parking lot on Horn Lake Road.
Bailey then got out of his car and began fighting with officers. Police say he got back into the car and rammed two squad cars. One officer ended up being dragged by Bailey's car. That is when officers fired shots.
Bailey was hit by gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer who was dragged by the suspect's vehicle was treated on the scene.
The four officers involved were David Wagner, 35, Paul Woods, 25, Pierce Hayden, 27, and Steve Theriac, 27.
They were all put on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The Attorney General's Office reviewed the case and decided the officers will not be charged in the shootings.
