(WMC-TV) - An expensive and exotic bird is back with its family in Tunica, Mississippi after taking flight for three days.
The tropical pet bird's name is Rosie.
The search began after a neighbor called police because she thought she heard a woman screaming for help.
It turns out, those "screams" were from Rosie, and now her family is just glad she's home safe.
"When my small daughter opened the door, she just straight up she fly," said Mansor Sherhan, bird owner.
The pet McCaw spent three days flying from tree to tree around Tunica County before her rescue on Thursday.
She may be pretty, but she's also pricey.
"I think it cost like maybe a thousand dollars something like that," said Sherhan.
Thanks to a utility truck, Tunica Police, and the Robinsonville Fire department, Rosie was found and retrieved.
"I was happy when she came back home, I was kissing her," said her owner.
The family says this is the first time Rosie has ever flown away from home, but they will be keeping a watchful eye on their favorite pet.
