(WMC-TV) - Here she is, a happy, healthy cat, nicknamed "pipe kitty".
But just twenty four hours ago, this frisky feline was stuck in an underground pipe near Summer and Waring.
"She got out of the hole around 4AM thanks to all the volunteers. She went straight to the vet for observation," stated Katie Pemberton with the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County.
"Pipe Kitty" is now named Piper in honor of her several day stay inside the underground pipe.
Rescuers aren't sure how she ended up there.
"She had quite a flea infestation...she's been treated for that, and even after she got to the vet, she was very playful and very vocal," said Pemberton.
Piper was stuck inside a pipe with an opening of only eight feet.
The rescue effort began with simple string.
Then backhoes and tons of volunteers were brought in for this kitty conundrum.
The kitty was finally rescued by local plumbers.
During and after her rescue, she became quite popular.
"She now has her own hash tag, a tee shirt design for her, Facebook, Twitter handle, I even heard Carrie Ann Inaba of Dancing With The Starts tweeted about her. People in Nashville were tweeting about her," Pemberton stated.
But this lucky cat already has a new home.
The plumber from Greenway Home Services who rescued her is her lucky new owner.
