MEMPHIS, TN - (WMC-TV) – A man is under arrest, for the murder of a Memphis musician and father in Paducah, Kentucky.
Memphian Michael Bouie is the father of two young children. Now investigators in Paducah are trying to figure out why he was murdered.
"I want everyone to know that Michael was a good boy. He was always a happy child," Bouie's mother Chejuana Chase said.
24-year-old Michael Bouie, a musician who went to Melrose High School, was shot to death Tuesday in Paducah, KY where he was visiting his sisters.
"It baffles us because he doesn't know anyone here besides his sisters. He doesn't know anyone," Bouie's father Michael Chase said.
Bouie's family says he moved to Paducah a week ago. Investigators say Bouie was discovered on the sidewalk between an apartment and a parking lot. His sister found him and held him in her arms. Investigators developed Donald Fowler as a suspect.
"Speaking with lots of people, multiple interviews with people throughout the day and based on these interviews we had a pretty good feeling Mr. Fowler was involved or was there and witnessed it," Sgt. Brian Laird with the Paducah Police Department said.
Donald Fowler's girlfriend lives in the apartment complex. He was captured in Cincinnati where his girlfriend's mother lives.
Michael Bouie's Facebook page is filled with memorials to him. His mother clings to his shirt in her grief.
"Of all five of my children, he was the one who hugged me and kissed me and told me, 'Momma I love you,'" Chejuana Chase said.
Paducah investigators say Michael Bouie did not know the man accused in his murder. At this point they believe he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
