(WMC-TV) – One teen was killed after the car she was riding in broke down on Highway 61 in Tunica County, Mississippi.

It happened around 10 o'clock last night. When our Action News 5 crew arrived in Tunica today to look for the scene of that accident, the victim's boyfriend also showed up.  In an exclusive interview, he talked to us about how it happened.

Still wearing his hospital armband, Kevin Holt returned to the scene on Highway 61 just hours after the deadly accident that killed his girlfriend, 18-year-old Annie Lipsey.

(Holt): "Our plan was to go out to eat, you know get out of Tunica and ride and somehow I had a blowout and that you know,"

(Reporter): "Changed everything?"

(Holt): "Yep."

Getting out of the car to walk to a nearby gas station for help, Holt says he and Lipsey attempted to cross southbound traffic on Highway 61.

Holt's brother, who did not want to appear on camera, said he was on his way to pick up the couple when he learned that Lipsey had been hit by a car.

"Three minutes later he called me back screaming 'my baby my baby, they hurt my baby' you know or whatever I heard," said Holt's brother.

Orange paint appears to mark the spot where the vehicle came to rest after striking Lipsey.  Lipsey's boyfriend says there was a man and woman inside the car and they stayed until investigators arrived.

"It was not a hit and run. There have been no charges filed that I know of at this point," said Mississippi Department of Public Safety Representative Warren Strain.

Investigators say the female driver is from Memphis.  Lipsey lived in Tunica County.  On her Facebook page, she listed her favorite activity as talking on the phone and watching iCarly.

Holt's brother assisted other eyewitnesses with moving Lipsey's body off the highway until emergency help arrived.

"We flipped her over on her stomach and I was like 'man, God got her...you know...God got her'," said Holt's brother.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol says this is an ongoing investigation.
