(WMC-TV) – A 3-year-old girl is dead after a truck plowed into a family attending a funeral at a West Memphis funeral home.
Isabella Rushing, 3, was taken to LeBonheur Children's Hospital with critical injuries after a driver had a seizure behind the wheel causing her to lose control of the truck and crash into Roller Citizens Funeral Home.
"It was very, very chaotic. You have to imagine these families were grieving already, and we had three different families grieving, then this took place, so it was real chaotic in the beginning," said Jeff Jones with the West Memphis Fire Department.
Isabella passed away Thursday night. The rest of her family, her 5-year-old sibling and three adults, were also taken to the hospital after the crash.
"The three year old little girl passed away last night. The five year old little girl is recovered, is doing very well, has been released from Le Bonheur to the family," said Capt. Ken Mitchell, West Memphis Police Department.
The driver of the truck was treated and released from a local hospital.
"We will gather all the facts from this. Conduct all the interviews that need to be done, gather all the evidence that we can," explained Captain Mitchell. "All of that will be presented to our prosecuting attorney and he will review it and at that time determine if criminal charges will be filed."
Of the three adults who were hit, one was not admitted to the hospital, another has already been treated and released, and one remains in the care of doctors.
