Chihuahua shot in foiled burglary attempt

(WMC-TV) – A dog became a victim during a foiled burglary attempt in east Memphis.

A man called police when he noticed strange activity happening at a home on Norris Avenue.

Police say five men tried to enter the home by breaking a bedroom window.

When officers arrived on the scene, they said all of the men tried to run away.

Jermaine Kimbrough was caught trying to jump the fence in the backyard. The four other suspects were also caught and were positively identified by the man who called police.

According to a police affidavit, the resident's pet Chihuahua was found dead under the carport. It had been shot in the head.

Kimbrough will be charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated animal cruelty, resisting official detention, and evading arrest.
