Burn ban issued for Memphis

(WMC-TV) – The Memphis Fire Department issued a burn ban for the Bluff City.

Extreme drought conditions are the reason for the ban. It forbids all open burning within the Memphis city limits.

The burn ban will be in place until the drought conditions improve.

Meanwhile, the Shelby County Health Department issued an orange air quality alert.  Other counties under the alert are Crittenden County, and DeSoto County.

People with respiratory problems, such as asthma, should limit their time outside.
