(WMC-TV) - An army of people are expected to converge on the mid-south fairgrounds this weekend for free food, clothing and other necessities.
The annual event is called the Memphis Convoy of Hope.
Each year churches come together for the and provide free food, clothing, and other items to help thousands of Memphians in need.
In addition to the bags of groceries and clothing, Convoy of Hope also provides free haircuts, health screenings, job advice, and counseling.
There is also music, entertainment, and a carnival for the kids to keep spirits up.
Churches involved with the event say the main focus is on faith.
"Well I got up this morning to come and get two bags of groceries, but I'm going back home a saved person," said one person who has attended the event.
Convoy of Hope events take place all around the country.
The event will get underway Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Mid-South fairgrounds.
Convoy of Hope is still seeking barbers, doctors, and others who would like to volunteer their time and skills.
