(WMC-TV) - A carjacking suspect was shot and killed by Memphis Police during a foot chase.
As with any officer-involved shooting, police are taking their time on this one and remained on the scene hours after the incident.
All of this went down after five o'clock at the intersection of Knight Road and Wooddale Avenue in the Parkway Village area.
That's where police pursued a male carjacking suspect from a house where the vehicle had been tracked using GPS.
Police say the suspect struck another vehicle before bailing out of the car.
Then, during a brief foot chase, police say the suspect reached toward his waistband and indicated he had a gun.
That's when he was shot by an officer and later pronounced dead at The Med. Police have yet to release the age or name of the suspected carjacker, or the identity of the officer who shot him. They have also not said whether the suspect was actually armed.
The victim's identity is expected to be revealed sometime Friday.
