(WMC-TV) - A two-month-old baby is in the hospital after investigators say he was violently shaken.

Sources tell Action News 5 that the baby's name is Knox Parker and that his father, Matt, is the subject of an investigation into what happened.

Doctors at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital called sheriff's deputies at two o'clock in the morning Friday after the baby was brought to the hospital.

Their examination revealed he was suffering the effects of shaken baby syndrome.

A source said the child's father was caring for him at the time, but investigators said they haven't made any arrests.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said the baby was born May 6. A spokesman said deputies are still investigating the case.

"I've spoken to the detective on the case and there will be an open dialogue between law enforcement and my client and we just hope that the child is going to recover," Ballin said.

Deputies said the baby is still at Le Bonheur and while his condition has stabilized, his exact prognosis is unknown.
