(WMC-TV) – A bug that is responsible for thousands of deaths each year is now being tracked in the Mid-South.

'Kissing bugs' are tiny assassins that target your face and lips to spread disease. The little bugs have been a threat for years in South America.

There are some things you should know about these pests now that they are showing up in the Mid-South.

"One could be infected and then the disease shows up a decade or two or three later," said Dr. Daniel Sprenger, Shelby County Health Department.
