Trey Erwin's 'Celebration of Life' is scheduled for Saturday

(WMC-TV) – Family and friends of Trey Erwin will join together this weekend  to celebrate the teen's life.

And now memorial services for Erwin are scheduled for Saturday.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A Celebration of his life will begin at 2 p.m. at Germantown Baptist Church.  Following the celebration of his life, there will be a burial at Memorial Park.

Although he lost his fight with cancer, many around the Mid-South and even the nation are remembering Trey Erwin.

"I'm not shocked at his strength," his mother Lisa Erwin said in an online video produced by MERICA NOIR. "He's always been strong willed. He's always been strong willed."

In March, the 15-year-old was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and given 6 months to live.

His diagnosis sparked the Pray for Trey social media movement, T-shirts, armbands and a song.

Songwriter Nick Tutor sat down with Action News 5 at Germantown Baptist church where the Erwin's are members.

Tutor said he wrote "Fly" because he was inspired by the Erwin family's strength.

"The song says 'with faith as strong as diamonds and courage just as tough, you'll soar where eagles fly way above the mountaintops'" said Tutor.

At around 3:30 Thursday afternoon, Trey's parents wrote on his blog "Trey is now healthy in heaven."

Trey succumbed to his battle with cancer, but Tutor said he feels the teen's life was still a miracle.

"Miracles happen, but maybe not the way we all would like to see, which is him make a miraculous comeback," Tutor said.

"I'm not inspiring anyone," Trey Erwin said in a video posted online before his death. "I'm being used by God and I just want all the glory to go to him and none, none, none, to me."

On Twitter, Trey's mother asked for prayers after announcing her son's death.

"Trey is healthy in heaven. No need to pray for Trey!!! Pray for the Erwin's," she wrote.
