(WMC-TV) – Police are investigating two car arsons that happened in the same neighborhood - on the same night.
All that is left of Amy Mozingo's car is shattered glass, burned rubber and wilted sheet metal.
It mysteriously went up in flames last Thursday morning.
"That car had been parked there about two days," Mozingo said. "I hadn't driven it."
She lives in Colonial Acres in east Memphis with her sister and brother-in-law, David Underwood.
"It kinda worries us that somebody's going around setting cars on fire," said Underwood.
Their house is wired up with surveillance cameras. At 1:16 a.m., a suspicious car pulled up outside the house and crept by before eventually turning around and coming back.
The headlights on the car turned off. Five seconds later, their front lawn lit up from what appears to be some kind of explosion.
That was not the first incident of the night in that same neighborhood.
Less than one mile away, another car was scorched.
"The car is a 2000 Mustang. And my mother gave it to me in 2004 as a gift," said the second victim, Hermes Rosa. "It meant a lot to me."
All that is left is the car's shell.
"I just would like for them to be caught. I don't want this to happen to somebody else. That just concerns me," said Mozingo.
Both victims are now hoping the incineration will result in incarceration.
Both Mozingo and Rosa are working with insurance adjusters.
