(WMC-TV) –On Saturday around midnight, Memphis police say a 23-year-old woman and her 2-year-old son were shot while asleep in a Raleigh home.
Officers responded to the shooting in the 4200 block Nam-Ni. Once on the scene, they found the woman and her son suffering from gunshot wounds.
The child was transported to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in critical condition. The woman was transported to the Regional Medical Center also in critical condition.
Investigators believe both victims were sleeping inside a bedroom when shots were fired into the residence.
Neighbors who did not want to speak on camera told Action News 5 they heard approximately 6-8 gunshots and witnessed a car drive off.
Police say six other victims, ages 10, 14, 15, 23, 42, and 44 were inside the home when the shooting occurred, none were injured.
No suspect information is available.
