(WMC-TV) – A convicted felon is behind bars again after a shooting and police chase that sent three people, including the suspect, to the hospital.
Just before 11 p.m. Saturday, West Memphis police were called to the scene where a woman had been shot and a second woman had been beaten.
When they arrived on the scene, police say the suspect, 23-year-old Alex Scott Roberts, approached officers and fired shots at them. He then fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later determined to have been stolen at gunpoint.
Police say they chased Roberts down Rainer Road. During the chase, Roberts fired more shots at officers and ran into two patrol cars, nearly hitting officers. That is when officers fired multiple rounds into the suspect's vehicle.
Roberts was arrested and was taken to the Crittenden Regional Hospital with no major injuries. One West Memphis police officer was also taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. That officer has since been released.
The woman who was shot earlier was taken to The MED. She was treated for her gunshot wound and released.
