MEMPHIS, TN - (WMC-TV) – Memphis Police say two men were shot around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon outside a gas station/strip mall at Winchester and Millbranch. Officers responding to reports of a armed man actually heard the shots.
"Both victims were transported to The MED," said Memphis Police Sgt. Alyssa Macon-Moore. "One victim expired at The MED."
Police said the victims, both in their 20's, were seated in a white Dodge Challenger and were shot following some sort of argument with the gunman. They said he unsuccessfully tried to run away. Bloody clothes belonging to one of the victims baked in the heat as bystanders gathered to watch.
"They have no respect for each other's lives," said neighbor Chastity Scott. "You only got one. Somebody's family hurting on both sides."
One of the dead man's friends was among those who showed up on the scene. Brian Kinsey told Action News 5 about the phone call he received minutes beforehand.
"Man, your partner's been killed man," Kinsey said.
He told us his friend was a father of either two or three children.
"You know, one of my homeboys man, a good guy man," said Kinsey. "He ain't did nothing to nobody man."
There was another gun lying in the parking lot. However, police said only the suspect fired shots. Meanwhile, customers pumping gas and those doing business at the adjoining barber shop and wing restaurant were lucky no one else got hurt.
No charges have been filed at this time. Police have yet to confirm the names of the victims.
