(WMC-TV) – There is a heat advisory for the entire Action News 5 coverage area until 7 p.m. Thursday. That means some of you could see a heat index of 105 degrees.
As a result, Memphis will be implementing its heat protocols today.
You can escape the heat by visiting libraries, community centers or senior centers during regular business hours.
And make sure to check in on your neighbors, especially senior citizens, the sick and disabled.
And don't forget to check on your pets as well.
Memphis firefighters will be conducting door -to -door checks throughout the day.
If you are looking to beat the heat, the city's official cooling center will be the Orange Mound Community Center on Park Avenue.
It will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 at night. And if you do not have transportation, don't worry.
You can call the Mayor's Citizens Service Center for a ride to any city facility.
