(WMC-TV) – The Mississippi Health department is reporting the first death of the year from the West Nile Virus.
It happened in Smith County, which is in the central part of the state.
Additionally, there are eight new human West Nile cases reported in Miss., which brings the total infections this year to 19.
Symptoms of West Nile Virus infection are often mild and may include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, a rash, muscle weakness or swollen lymph nodes.
