MEMPHIS, TN - (WMC-TV) – Memphis police are making an appeal after four years, for clues that could solve a mysterious disappearance.
Mattie Hill was 45 when she disappeared four years ago. Memphis police have continued their search for her. But a lot has changed in that four years and clues to her disappearance are also disappearing.
"All I heard was she just up and disappeared and nobody knowed anything about it," said neighbor Lee Powell.
Memphis police say Mattie Wilson walked away from a care home four years ago and hasn't been seen since. That care home was located on Dumas in Frayser.
"It burned one night. We woke up well one morning. It was burning," said neighbor Dale Handerson. "I got woke up about 4 in the morning with fire trucks."
Neighbors say no one was injured in the fire. It is not clear what caused it. And they say the house was never rebuilt. The case is strange and mysterious because many neighbors didn't know anything about a missing woman.
Memphis police say they don't have any new information. They just reissued the missing persons report hoping someone would know something.
At the time of her disappearance Mattie Wilson was 5'4" and weighed 106 pounds.
Four years ago Mattie Hill's family was very involved in the search for her. Action News 5 was unable to contact anyone from her family.
