Vandals deface USM's Roberts Stadium

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - From the Golden Eagle logo at midfield to the south end zone, vandals left their mark at M.M. Roberts Stadium.
The Hattiesburg American reports ( ) University of Southern Mississippi police are trying to find out who vandalized the stadium's playing surface with spray paint Monday night.
According to a statement from USM, minor vandalism occurred, including defacing the giant Eagle head emblem in the center of the field and minor graffiti written in the south end zone.
University spokesman Jack Duggan said the affected areas were treated Tuesday with industrial strength cleaning solvent.
The university said the incident marks the first time that the Roberts Stadium turf has been vandalized.
