(WMC-TV) – Sheriff's deputies in North Mississippi caught the man they believe is responsible for robbing a bank in Union County.

The suspect, who police identify as Marlon Devon Thomas, led deputies on a chase that ended near Potts Camp.

It all started when police say Thomas entered a New Albany bank with a note intending to rob it.  A silent alarm was activated and police were on the case.

According to Action News 5's Janice Broach, the suspect's truck and a patrol car were both totaled and caught fire in the chase. Chopper 5 recorded the scene as the burned vehicles were towed away.

A police canine located the suspect lying down in dense bush near Highway 78. Broach said he asked officers why they were chasing him. Deputies found money scattered throughout the woods.

Chopper 5 was in the air as they transferred the suspect to where other officers were waiting to put him in a police car.  He was then transferred to an ambulance.
