SEC Dominates Preseason Coaches Poll

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - The SEC owns the initial preseason coaches poll released by USA Today Thursday.

Five SEC Teams open in the top 10, with seven total squads in the top 25, the most for any conference.

Despite losing the BCS national championship in January, LSU tops the poll with four more total points than Alabama.

The Crimson Tide begins the season ranked second.

The defending national champions had the most first place votes, though, with 20.

Georgia begins the season at No.6, with South Carolina ninth, and Arkansas rounding out the top 10.

The other two SEC squads to crack the top 25 are Florida at No. 23 and Auburn 25th.

Mississippi State and Tennessee both received votes.

Southern California, Oklahoma and Oregon rank No. 3, 4, and 5 respectively.
