MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The Church Health Center is celebrating a milestone birthday – 25 years. Now, they want the City of Memphis to show up to help them celebrate. The four night block party is called Rock for Love 6.

Rock for Love 6, will close down with a concert at the Levitt Shell, featuring the legendary Booker T. Jones and rap sensation, Al Kapone.

"I don't know how much more Memphis you can get than Booker T. Jones and Al Kapone at the Levitt Shell," said Marvin Stockwell, Church Health Center.

Rock for Love 6 will benefit the Church Health Center (CHC). The non-profit provides health care to the city's working uninsured and poor but it is so much more than just a clinic.

"We do everything from Medical to wellness to outreach. We work in the faith community to help churches get healthier. We're all about a healthier Memphis, and there are just so many access points to get involved with the CHC," said Jeff Hewlett, CHC.

In years past, Rock for Love was staged solely at the HiTone, but this year, the concert series is branching out with a block party on Madison Avenue.

"We are gunning for nothing less than the biggest thing that has happened in Overton Square in 20 years," said Stockwell.

On September 8, Madison Avenue will be shut down from Cooper Street, west to Diana Street. The stage will be set up on Diana Street.

"Overton Square, roaring back to life is part of the trajectory our city is on and part of that comeback. So we thought, what better place to celebrate our 25th birthday? To close down Madison Avenue and celebrate right here in Overton Square," said Stockwell.

Expect lots of family friendly entertainment at the Overton Square event.

While there is a cover charge to see the bands playing at the HiTone, the Overton Square events and the Levitt Shell concert are free. But donations are strongly encouraged.

"The Church Health Center needs to raise vital funds to provide affordable health care to uninsured working people in Memphis. It's as simple as that," explained Stockwell.

After all, the Church Health Center has been supporting Memphis for 25 years.
