Charges upgraded against Tennessee constable

(WMC-TV) – Charges against a West Tennessee constable have been upgraded since his arrest in July.

Former Dyer County Constable Derick Hundley was charged with one count of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. Now, he is in the custody of U.S. Marshals and is charged with coercion and possession of child pornography.

He appeared before a federal judge Monday and pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

The federal indictment lays out the case against the elected official first put into office as one of ten constables by Dyer County voters in 2010.

Hundley's term was not set to expire until 2014, but he resigned following his arrest.

Count one of the indictment accuses Hundley of trying to persuade an underage female to have oral sex with him from July 14 to July 16 of this year.

Count two follows Hundley from February 2010 to July 2012. It accuses him of knowingly being in the possession of child pornography both on a cell phone and an external hard drive. The pictures were saved as files.

The file names list out ages zero to six and age nine. They also included the female name, Tara. Most of the other file names are not appropriate list.

In addition to having been an elected official, Hundley is also a former Halls police officer.

His trial date has not yet been set.
