(WMC-TV) - The Memphis City Council just voted to add sexual orientation to an amendment that could update the city's anti-discrimination policy.
That was round one in a two part battle.
Councilman Lee Harris' amendment originally proposed adding age, disability, and national origin to the city's anti-discrimination rules.
The second part of the battle will be a vote on the amendment.
The City Council will deliberate whether or not to approve the amendment to include age, disability, national origin and sexual orientation.
The city council delayed a final vote on whether they can change the overall ordinance due to legal concerns. It will be delayed for 30 days.
