(WMC-TV) – Four students were taken to the hospital after a crash that involved a school bus and two other cars.

The crash happened in Whitehaven around 7:30 a.m.

Witnesses say what sounded like a bomb going off was actually the sound of breaking glass and twisting metal.

The bus came to a screeching halt in front of Denzel Green's house.

"You know, I was asleep when it happened, so I just heard it and I came outside and all this was going on," said Green.

When he got outside, the street in front of his house was blocked off with emergency vehicles and several students were being loaded onto ambulances.

"Everybody was alright, everybody was okay," said Green.

Investigators on the scene say the crash involved two cars as well as the bus.

They believe one vehicle struck the rear of another, causing that vehicle to hit the bus.

Green says every morning you can see a large number of school buses picking up students in the neighborhood but this is the first time he can remember anyone crashing into one.

Action News 5 is still working to get the latest condition reports on the four students that were taken to the hospital.

The students' injuries were described as being minor.
