(WMC-TV) - For the people in line at Mid-South Apple stores, the doors could not open soon enough.
Many eager iPhone 5 buyers lined up more than 24 hours ago – some even for days.
Was the wait worth it? It sounds like the consensus is 'Yes'.
The line at the Apple Store in the Shops of Saddle Creek did not snake around the building as in other cities across the country, but there were plenty of loyal Apple fans playing "hardball" to get the home court advantage, or in this case, the iPhone 5 advantage.
"I stayed waiting from 5:30 p.m. yesterday," said Luis Higareda.
For Luis, it was worth the wait and the hype.
"I mean, it's Apple, so, it's exactly what I expected," he said.
The thinner, lighter, and faster smart phone comes with a bigger screen and cutting edge apps.
More than 2 million phones were pre-ordered in the first 24 hours and analysts expect a total of 10 million phones to be sold by Monday.
Store inventories are expected to go fast. Apple says it is already sold out of iPhone 5's with online orders on hold for another three to four weeks.
Tech analysts say the Apple cult-like following is not necessarily what the products do but how it makes you feel.
"I'm looking forward to playing with it all day while I'm at work. Don't tell my boss that," said iPhone 5 owner Cadarius Buckingham.
