(WMC-TV) - Memphis Fire investigators are looking for an arsonist after fire destroyed several units at the Somerset Park Apartments on Winchester.
As soon as there was enough daylight to see, residents at Somerset Park Apartments got their first look at the fire damage and were amazed by what they saw.
"It was a big blaze, big blaze," said resident Marricus Neely. "I went out to the story with my baby mama I wasn't gone no longer than 2 or 3 minutes when I came back everything was on fire these buildings was on fire and that building was on fire," Neely added.
More than 100 firefighters worked to put the flames out. Video shot on a residents cell phone camera demonstrates the intensity of the blaze.
The best example of that intense heat is the siding on the apartments: melted like was in an oven.
Firefighters say several residents were displaced by the fire, which burned one unit to the ground and made several other units unlivable.
Residents were not surprised to learn that the blaze is being investigated as arson.
"Yeah it's been like 9, 8 fires already just in this year. Every time they start a fire its always in this area," Neely stated.
While fire investigators work to try and figure out who started the most recent fires here, residents worry that the arsonists will strike again.
"That happens all the time, happens all the time," said resident Mary Stanley.
No injuries were reported in connection with this fire. However a firefighter was treated for over exertion.
