(WMC-TV) - A vigil will be held Friday night for a Memphis teen who was shot by an off-duty police officer.
Justin Thompson's body was found earlier in the week, on lying on the ground right at South Perkins and Winchester. At in that very spot, people will gather at 8 p.m. to remember him.
An investigation is underway, and the police officer involved has been named.
Officer Terrance Shaw is under investigation in that shooting. The TBI says Shaw was off-duty at the time, and may have been trying to prevent a robbery.
Investigators are looking into whether this was his first encounter with the 15-year-old boy, or if there was some prior history there.
